House, Gordon (1932-2004), 'Orange Matrices', Screenprint, 1967/68

'Orange Matrices', Screenprint, 1967/68

Titled, numbered, signed and dated in pencil. Printed at the Kelpra Studio, London. Edition of 75.

The artist described how this series explored the concept of 'a matrix as a format with a divided maze in the form of continuous line to contain an asymmetric focal area'. These prints were 'planned to contrast visually in various ways of reading: flat area to line, dark to light with colour. Each print was programmed in two printings only, demanding complete result by direct approach through the printing process'.
