'The Corner of Cheyne Walk, Chelsea', Etching, 1888-1889


Printed on laid paper. Unsigned, with the artist's tab. From the edition of about 50 impressions. Trimmed to the platemark by the artist and printed with heavy plate tone.

The subject is the corner of Beaufort Street and Cheyne Walk, seen from the Chelsea end of the Battersea Bridge. The Georgian house, with a veranda on the second floor, is Belle Vue Lodge, next to it is Belle Vue House and to the right of that is Lindsey Lodge, where Whistler lived between 18661878.
